Hi DMS Law office in Vietnam! Are papers, documents of marriage and family issued by competent overseas agencies required to be consularly legalized before submitting to authorities in Vietnam ? Coud you advise me about consular legalization of papers, documents of marriage and family involving foreign elements ?

Papers established, granted or certified by competent foreign agencies for use in the settlement of cases and matters of marriage and family shall be consularly legalized, except cases eligible for exemption from consular legalization under treaties to which the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is a contracting party or on the principle of reciprocity (Article 124 Law on Marriage and Family No. 52/2014/QH13 dated June 19, 2014)
