Registration for retention of Vietnamese nationality ?

Hi DMS Lawyers in Vietnam! I am an overseas Vietnamese. Do I have to register for retention of Vietnamese nationality ? Could you advise me about retention of Vietnamese nationality ?

Persons having Vietnamese nationality:

Persons having Vietnamese nationality include those who have Vietnamese nationality by the effective date of this Law and those who acquire Vietnamese nationality under this Law.

Overseas Vietnamese who have not yet lost Vietnamese nationality as prescribed by Vietnamese law before the effective date of this Law may retain their Vietnamese nationality.

Overseas Vietnamese who have not yet lost Vietnamese nationality but have no documents proving Vietnamese nationality as prescribed in Article 11 of this Law shall register with overseas Vietnamese representative missions to be determined having Vietnamese nationality and be issued Vietnamese passports (Article13 Law on Vietnamese Nationality No. 05/VBHN-VPQH dated  10 July 2014).

Grounds for loss of Vietnamese nationality:

Being permitted to renounce Vietnamese nationality.

Being deprived of Vietnamese nationality.

Falling into cases specified in Clause 2, Article 18, and Article 35 of this Law.

Falling into cases specified in international treaties to which the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is a contracting party (Article 26 Law on Vietnamese Nationality No. 05/VBHN-VPQH dated  10 July 2014)

Therefore, from 06/26/2014 the Law No. 56/2014/QH13, dated 24/6/2014, came into effect, if you have not yet lost Vietnamese nationality, you may retain Vietnamese nationality without carrying out procedure for registration for retention of Vietnamese nationality./.
