Lawyer’s participation in proceedings at procedure conducting agencies in Vietnam:

Lawyers participate in proceedings at procedure-conducting agencies (Investigation agency, People's Procuracy, People’s Court at various levels) after having a written request for a lawyer of the client, the detainee, the suspect, the defendant or another person (Clause 2, Point b Clause 3 Article 27 Law No. 20/2012/QH13 amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Lawyers), such as:

Lawyers participate in criminal proceedings as an advocate for the detainee, the suspect, or the defendant; participate in proceedings as a protector of the lawful rights and interests of a victim, a civil plaintiff, a civil defendant, and persons having relevant rights and obligations in a criminal lawsuit;

Lawyers participate in proceedings as a representative or protector of the lawful rights and interests of a plaintiff, a defendant, and persons having relevant rights and obligations in civil cases, commercial proceedings, administrative lawsuits, labor disputes and other cases.
