Law on housing in Vietnam No. 65/2014/QH13 dated November 25, 2014 takes effect on July 01, 2015 (replaces the Law on Housing in Vietnam No. 56/2005/QH11 dated November 29, 2005, Law No. 34/2009/QH12 dated June 18, 2009, Law No. 38/2009/QH12 dated November 13, 2009, Decree No. 19/2008/QH12 dated June 03, 2008), prescribes new provisions, such as: interpret more clearly of such terms as residential house, separate residential house, apartment building, commercial housing, official residence (Article 3), prohibited acts (Article 6), extend entities eligible for the homeownership in Vietnam (Article 7), useful life of apartment buildings (Article 99), unilateral termination of lease agreement (Article 132), requirements for mortgage on projects on housing construction and mortgage on housing to be built in the future (Article 148), contributing jointly- owned housing as capital (Article 151), rights of foreign organizations, individuals as homeowners in Vietnam (Article 161) and many other new provisions.
