Papers and documents made by foreigners in a foreign language, can the signatures of the person who directly prepare those papers and documents be authenticated at a competent agency in Vietnam?

When certifying signatures on papers or documents in a foreign language, if the person receiving the application or the person performing the authentication does not clearly understand the contents of the paper or document, the requester for authentication is requested to attach a Vietnamese translation of the papers and documents. The translation into Vietnamese does not have to be notarized or the translator's signature authenticated, but the person requesting authentication must be responsible for the accuracy of the translation (Article 12 of Circular No. 01/2020/TT-BTP dated March 3, 2020).

To sum up, foreigners making papers and documents in a foreign language may get their signatures authenticated at a competent agency in Vietnam. However, in order to get a signature authenticated, the person requesting authentication and the content of the document requesting authentication must also ensure complying with the provisions of Vietnamese law./.
